Residents of Hai Kosti near Konyo Konyo market in Juba blocked a road when a bulldozer was sent to raze their homes. They are protesting their eviction from the area.
Radio Miraya reported on Friday that more than 200 of the residents are protesting. They say they have been occupying the land since 1960s but now the land is claimed by the family of a traditional chief.
The chairman of the Kosti neighborhood, Jada Ngijak, said the mayor’s office has promised to meet with the State Governor over the issue. He disclosed that the claimant of the land is a son of the chief Seberino Louis.
