Displaced people inside the UN Protection of Civilian’s Site (PoC) in Malakal town of South Sudan’s Upper Nile State have complained of deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the site due to heavy rains and increasing prices of goods.

One of the displaced persons told Radio Tamazuj that over 20 tents were submerged by heavy rains inside the camp in the last two days.

Meanwhile, Aban Yor, an elder from the PoC site, said the price of one sack of sugar has reached 10,000 SSP, and one onion costs 40 SSP, while a kilo of meat has reached 200 SSP.

Yor attributed the problem to the closure of the route to Wau Shilluk on the opposite bank of the river and economic challenges in South Sudan.
