Residents fear possible attack by cattle raiders in Pochalla North County

Local residents in Lango village in Pochalla North County in South Sudan’s Boma State are currently living in fear due to insecurity caused by cattle raiders in the area, a former local official said.

This comes after gunmen believed to be from the Murle tribe abducted a 10-year -old child on 24 December, burned one house and injured a man. 

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Ogebo Ochan, former Pochalla North County Commissioner said: “Their arrival started in the second week of December”.

The local official pointed out that the local residents fear that attacks could be carried out gain at any time in the area. He noted that the gunmen are moving in the area with their cattle in search of pastures and water.

The state government’s position remains unclear, while several citizens call on the relevant authorities to tackle the insecurity situation and child abduction by tribesmen from Pibor area.
