Local sources in Damazin town said the Sudanese government recently moved over 6,000 troops into operational areas in Blue Nile state.
The sources told Radio Tamazuj Sunday that the troops moved along three roads, while others were equipped at Al Disa area.
They also alleged arrival of warplanes in the area yesterday afternoon. “Two warplanes have just arrived, they arrived in Damazin town, and they are now hovering over the town,” said one of residents.
Last week, new military equipment was reportedly transported to South Kordofan and Blue Nile States.
Local residents expressed their fear for renewed fighting between government forces and Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North rebels following the adjournment of peace talks in Addis Ababa last month.
