According to a report seen by Radio Tamazuj and compiled by the Al Shahid (Martyr’s) organization, which is supported by the Blue Nile government, the number of SAF soldiers and allied militia killed increased from 1,220 in 2013 to 1,310 in 2014.

This represents a 10% increase, according to the statistics which were collected among families of the killed soldiers.

The report also cites poor services provided to wounded soldiers in Blue Nile, while pointing to over 80% deficit in services meant to be provided to the families of the soldiers cut down in line of duty.

The governmental organization mentioned nothing about the death toll of military operations in 2015.

Fighting erupted in Blue Nile State in 2011 between the Sudan Armed Forces with allied militias against the SPLA-North rebels and has continued ever since.

Multiple rounds of peace talks between the warring factions have yet to bring a resolution to the conflict.
