Lual Deng Chol, the Renk County Commissioner in South Sudan’s Upper Nile State says the county is relatively calm.
Commissioner Lual told Radio Tamazuj that the security situation remained tense, however, with more fighting being anticipated as control over neighboring Manyo County remains in question.
He said the rebels are currently stationed in neighbouring Manyo County. Nonetheless, he called on local residents who fled their houses to return back home.
The top county official further said the area is witnessing acute shortages of foodstuffs at the market due to hurdles hindering movement of commodities from Sudan.
