The Farmers' Union in Renk County of Upper Nile State says they expect poor harvests due to lack of funds and called on the government to urgently intervene and save the remaining part of the agricultural season.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the head of the Farmers' Union Kur Dau Manyueir said this agricultural season has failed majorly because of a lack of agricultural inputs and funds.

He pointed out that farmers were not able to cultivate more than 100 acres which were expected to be cultivated as part of the state's agricultural plan.

Dau called on both the state and national governments to salvage the remaining time of the agricultural season by injecting funds.

For her part, Upper Nile State Agriculture Minister Mary William Adhil told Radio Tamazuj ruled out that it was too early to announce poor harvests but acknowledged that support for agricultural activities especially the provision of fuel has been delayed.
