Renk County workers announce strike

The workers trade union in Renk in northern Upper Nile State of South Sudan announced that it will engage in a strike due to non-payment of wages and arrears for the months of January, May and June.

Chairman of the county workers’ union Kur Ajak Deng said to Radio Tamazuj that the union announced the strike after multiple initiatives with the authorities failed. He said they are demanding their pay.

Ajak urged the county authorities to look after workers’ issues before the situation gets worse, noting that the crisis was caused by the failure of the concerned authorities to pay the arrears of workers.
