Citizens and members of civil society organizations in Renk County of Upper Nile state celebrated on Tuesday the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, where speakers called for an end to early marriage and violence against women in the world’s youngest nation.
Women leaders said women in South Sudan have been suffering from violence and negative practices although they are the backbone of the community.
They called on the government to make sure young girls go to school without any interruption. They also demanded for enactment of laws that respect woman’s dignity.
