More than 3,000 displaced households have returned to their houses in Kajokeji area in South Sudan’s Yei River State after fleeing to refugee camps in northern Uganda due to shortages of food and water, a religious leader said.
Bishop Elie Kajaminyo of the Episcopal Church told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the returnees received some aid assistance from the local community, but it was inadequate.
Separately, Elie said that hundreds of conflict-displaced people from Lainya and other areas around Yei town fled to Kajokeji in August, saying the displaced families in Loogo area need food and other basic services.
The religious leader called on humanitarian organizations to help the needy people as soon as possible.
