Unidentified men have kidnapped a religious leader from his home in South Sudan’s capital Juba on Wednesday, a top state official in Amadi State said.

Rev. Noel Knight, Dean of the Episcopal Diocese in Lui area, was abducted and driven to an unknown location on Wednesday, Amadi Governor Joseph Ngere Pachiko said, adding that his whereabouts were unknown.

The state official told Radio Tamazuj that no one immediately claimed responsibility for the abduction. “I was told that there was a group of criminals that went to his home and took him. I do not know those who kidnapped him, but I have been asking the officials there, so we are still looking for him,” he said.
