Relative calm returns to Wau town after clashes

Residents in the southern and western parts of Wau town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal State have reported that there was relative calm following clashes between government forces and opposition fighters last week.

Residents in the southern and western parts of Wau town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal State have reported that there was relative calm following clashes between government forces and opposition fighters last week.

 Col. Nicola Gabriel Adam, spokesperson of the SPLA-IO faction the area, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that the clashes stopped around Wau town. He pointed out that they are still monitoring movements of government troops around Wau town.

The rebel spokesman revealed that three soldiers were killed from their sides and four others injured during fighting. Adam claimed that they killed dozens of government forces in Baggari and Bringi areas last Friday.
