A group of South Sudanese refugees in Uganda has called on the government and armed opposition groups to utilise the upcoming High Level Revitalisation Forum on South Sudan to bring about peace in war-torn South Sudan.

The refugees seeking shelter at Bidi Bidi camp in northern Uganda told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the warring parties should come to a peaceful resolution at the forum so that they can return to their homes.

Some IDPs also echoed the same sentiments.

One of the IDPs at Bentiu UN Protection of Civilians sites who preferred anonymity for security reasons said, “The UN, AU and IGAD should sanction those individual leaders who are against peace which also prevent the refugees and IDPs to return to their homes.”

South Sudanese warring parties and other stakeholders will meet on 5th February for High Level Revitalisation Forum, which has been termed as the last chance for South Sudanese leaders to bring peace in the country or face sanctions.
