The South Sudan Red Cross Society are still collecting dead bodies scattered around roads and residential areas in Juba, its spokesperson Marial Mayom Riak said.

The local organization has approached authorities in Juba asking for land to carry out mass burials after the recent violence.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, Mayom stated the Red Cross has buried the bodies that were collected from neighborhoods near the State House, and near the army barracks in Al-Giyada.

“There are bodies still in residential areas, especially in Gudele, but the citizens there tried to bury some” Marial said. “The collection is ongoing in the area of Jebel Kujur,”

Marial Mayom declined to announce the number of the bodies buried, saying the report is confidential.
