A rebel group calling itself the Sudan People’s Front led by Al Nazeer Juma Mahmoud has announced joining the West Kordofan government yesterday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Al Nazeer Juma stated that he surrendered to the government voluntarily for the sake of peace and stability in Sudan, saying the decision comes within the framework of protracted negotiations between the Governor Abul-Gasim Al Amin Baraka with his group for two months.
The group leader said that his decision came in response to a presidential amnesty offer to those who took up arms against the government. Al Nazeer revealed that he will join the government according to an agreement signed with the government.
He added that his group will be absorbed to become an integral part of regular security forces in West Kordofan. “According to what was said by the governor, the state should be stable. So we have come be part of the organized forces” he said.
