Government troops killed a senior rebel general when they attacked an area near Luri area in Eqautoria region on Sunday, a rebel official said on Sunday.

The SPLA-IO forces came under attack on Sunday in the Wululyet area where Brigadier General Angelo Logora was killed, said Paul Lam Gabriel, spokesman of the SPLA-IO movement.

He pointed out that two bodyguards of the general were injured.

Lam accused the government of violating the cessation of hostilities deal signed in December last year.

Army spokesman Lul Ruai Koang could not immediately be reached for comment.
