A rebel commander from the Mure tribe in South Sudan has called on his tribesmen who are still serving in the unity government to quit and rebel against President Salva Kiir.

Gen. Khalid Botrous, the Deputy Chief of General Staff for Operations of the National Salvation Front (NAS), predicted that all political leaders from the Murle tribe will resign from Kiir’s administration which he accused of committing crimes against innocent citizens.

“I encourage anyone who cares about his people to rebel against the government that kills innocent civilians,” he said.

The rebel commander accused government troops of killing innocent civilians from the Murle tribe at Kubri Muhandessin over the past two weeks.

He claimed that the attack was launched after baseless reports that those civilians were taking weapons to Pibor town.
