Banak Riang Lual, the rebel-appointed governor of Sobat State in Uper Nile region arrived in the state headquarters on Saturday.
He was received by a large number of local residents in Mandeang area, a territory controlled by the opposition.
Riang urged the locals to live peacefully with their neighbors and advise the organizations operating in the area to prioritize food aid and education in the area.
The opposition governor ordered rebel fighters to respect the signed permanent ceasefire.
Dukhan Jundit, secretary of information orientation and Documentation in the rebel-held Sobat state, told Radio Tamazuj that the governor also banned the sale of bangi in the state.
