A lawmaker said the security situation was relatively calm in Raja town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal State these days.
Dehia Khamis, an MP in the state legislative assembly, told Radio Tamazuj that the security situation was relatively stable in the area. However, the legislator said many families are still sheltering inside the church in Raja town.
He pointed out that some humanitarian agencies visited the area and assessed the situation in order to provide food to the conflict-affected people. Khamis added that the main hospital in Raja town received some medical assistance from some health organizations operating in the area.
Dehia revealed that local residents who preferred to stay in the town are currently depending on the market in the area. He added that prices of some essential goods dropped at the market after the harvested products reached the market recently.
The MP explained that a small bushel of corn cots 280 SSP and that a kilogram of sugar is selling at 170 SSP.
