Raja citizens still demanding separate state

Citizens in Raja area said they are still demanding their own state separate from the controversially created lol state in which two different tribes were lumped to form one state in October 2015.

Citizens in Raja area said they are still demanding their own state separate from the controversially created lol state in which two different tribes were lumped to form one state in October 2015.

This comes after President Kiir created additional states over the weekend, raising the number of the states in the world’s youngest nation to 32.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, several citizens in Raja said that they were expecting President Kiir to create a separate state for them. “The people of Raja were expecting Raja area to be one of the newly created states, because we believe that Raja deserves to be a separate state,” said one of citizens.

The complaining citizens said that they are still calling on President Kiir to create Raja state.

In October 2015, tribal chiefs in Raja met and decided to reject the Establishment Order issued by President Kiir annexing their county to Aweil West and Aweil North Counties to become Lol State.
