Citizens in Raja area in South Sudan’s Lol State have complained about food insecurity due to failure of this year’s agricultural season in the state, promoting them to resort to fishing.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, several local residents said that they resorted to fishing due food shortages in the area. The complaining residents further said irregular rains have negatively affected crop production this year, besides the issue of insecurity in area.
They also complained about poor roads leading to Sapo River, saying they use bicycles which does not help them to take sufficient quantities of fish to the market in Raja town.
“We have resorted to fishing and the work is good, but the problem is that the road is bad. We are using bicycles, so the quantity we get, we take it to the market and we also help our families,” said one of fishermen.
