Radio Spirit 99.9 FM has resumed broadcast of its programs in Yei town over the weekend.

Radio Spirit 99.9 FM has resumed broadcast of its programs in Yei town over the weekend.

The station went off air for nearly six months after lightening hit its transmission system. The station is being mostly used by the public and the government to communicate messages or information.

Patrick Yega, the station’s manager, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that they have secured a new transmitter, mixture and antenna from Uganda. He pointed out that they resumed broadcast of programs on Sunday.

“Now we have new equipment such as transmitter 700 watts, antenna and mixture that’s why we are on air… the radio station covers the whole state including neighboring Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo,” he said.

Patrick pointed out that fuel shortage could also affect their operation.

Rose Kojo, a regular listener of Radio Spirit, expressed happiness about the resumption of broadcast saying the station provides them with information.

Maktur Tutu, another listener of Radio spirit, also expressed happiness about the matter noting that the station will feed him and his family members with news and information.
