Radio Spirit 99.9 FM has been off air for a week after lightening hit its transmission system in Yei River State, according to a staff member of the radio station.
The station is being mostly used by the public and the government to communicate messages or information.
“Yes I can confirm to you that our favorite and popular radio station is off air now. Heavy rains and thunder affected our transmission system. Our technician tried to fix it but all in vain, we are now working out possibilities to send the transmitter to Kampala for repair,” one of the workers told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday.
He called on the public to remain patient as efforts are being exerted to address the challenge.” it’s unfortunate that programs, news and announcements have come to a standstill until further notice,” he said.
Radio Spirit is an independent station established in 2006.
