Radio Easter, broadcasting on 94.0 FM in South Sudan’s Yei River state, has resumed full operations after three months closure.
The station’s director, Fr Emmanuel Lodongo Sebit, said technical issues forced the radio’s closure, but its transmission system was fixed.
The radio, Fr. Sebit told a congregation at Christ The King Cathedral on Sunday, is still undergoing tests to determine its coverage signal.
Thunder strike hit the radio in September last year, forcing its closure.
Radio Easter, the “Voice of Truth and Life”, is one of the radio stations under the Catholic radio network, which operates in South Sudan.
“I am happy hearing Radio Easter running its programs,” Joyce Poni, a regular listener of Radio Easter told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday.
“I tuned to the station on Monday morning and the signal was very clear in my area,” she added.
Three church radio stations currently operate in Yei River state. These are Radio Easter, Radio Spirit and EPC radio. The state, however, still lacks either a community-based or government-owned radio station.
