Persons with Disability (PWDs) in Aweil town of South Sudan’s North Bahr el Ghazal State say they received relief food from the state Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) and the ministry of gender, child and social development on Friday.
Abraham Thuou, the Secretary-General for the PWD union, told Radio Tamazuj that they received 50 bags of rice.
“The purpose we are here is to distribute the rice which is given to us by the government although it is small; it makes sense in our life. We are so happy for the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission together with the ministry of gender, child and social development for their good coordination in supporting the disabled members,” Thuou said.
Tereza Abuk Kuch, one of the beneficiaries said, “The state government through the ministry of gender, child and social development has released about 50 bags of rice and we distributed them already. We are so happy because everybody will cook enough food for his/her children.”
Another beneficiary, Anguei Majok Aguer said: “We thank our government for the support and we are again asking the government to continue to support the disabled, visually impaired persons, and deaf.”
The RRC announced last week that it had received food aid from the Chinese government through the national government in Juba meant for vulnerable persons and groups.
