Public transport resumes on Juba-Bor road

Drivers’ and transport union in Juba announced Monday that public transport on the main road between the Jubek and Jonglei states has resumed its operations.

Public transport was stopped on Thursday, April 6, following two incidents. A car travelling from Jonglei to Juba was ambushed by unknown gunmen near Gameza, Terekeka State and the driver of the vehicle was injured. 

In another incident a convoy of vehicles on its way from Juba to Boma State was attacked near Mangala. Four people died, several people were wounded and others were reported missing.

The union’s chairperson, Bilal Hassan, said: “Yes, I can confirm that the Juba-Bor road has resumed its operation and so far six vehicles managed to reach safely to Bor.”
