Drivers’ union in Bor town announced on Thursday that the main road between Juba and Bor has reopened after being closed for three weeks due to insecurity.
On May 8, public transport was suspended on Juba-Bor road after deadly attacks that left more than 30 people dead.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, chairperson of driver’s union in Bor, Majok Jok Reng said: “Few vehicles on Tuesday and Wednesday came from Juba and the same here, few vehicles left for Juba and they arrived safely.”
Meanwhile, John Deng, a passenger who came to Bor on Wednesday said they were uncertain about their safety. “Thank God we have arrived safely but I cannot assure that the road is safe,” he said.
Deng pointed out that he saw few SPLA soldiers deployed between Gameiza and Sudan-Safari while on his way to Bor town.
