A student was wounded in clashes between protesting students and police in Um Jak area in Sudan’s South Kordofan State on Thursday.
The incident took place following a decision taken by the authorities to relocate a center set up for Sudan secondary examinations to Al Odeya town the locality headquarters.
The angry youths burned two secondary schools and destroyed some government facilities.
According to the Odeya Locality Commissioner, Adam Agidat, the local authorities have been able to contain the problem and reached an agreement with the parents.
The commissioner accused a certain group within the students of instigating the violence and inciting the students to protest against the government in the locality. He noted an investigation committee has been formed to investigate into the matter.
