Torit authorities have tasked the newly appointed commissioner of Ayachi County Charles Okumu to protect the natural resources found in the area.
Commissioner Okumu who was sworn in on Monday at the state secretariat, was appointed last Friday in a gubernatorial decree, replacing Odong Akena Kenneth.
During the swearing in ceremony, Governor Tobiolo Alberio Oromo said the appointment follows an outcry by the people of Ayachi community.
He urged the new commissioner to cooperate with Magwi county commissioner to solve problems affecting Acholi community
“There have been great cry from the people of Acholi that the natural resources, the forest have been destroyed. We are sending you to go and rescue the forest,” he added.
For his part, Commissioner Charles Okumu vowed to work with the people to solve any issues arising in the area.
