Eastern Equatoria Minister of Information Mark Akio said they dispatched a committee to investigate clashes between local youths and SPLA forces in Ikotos County last Wednesday which left two civilians dead.

Okio told Radio Tamazuj that the incident took place when local youths accused SPLA forces of beating up a citizen, prompting them to attack a military camp. SPLA soldiers then shot two youths.

The minister confirmed that the investigation committee is still carrying out its task in the county in an attempt to fully uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Until now the committee is still in Ikotos. We are not in position to say anything until the committee completes its work, let’s wait for the committee for the full information,” he said.
