Pro-government militia accused of robbery in Dilling area of South Kordofan

A number of citizens including women have been threatened and robbed by armed militia in Sudan’s South Kordofan State, according to a local source.

An eyewitness from the Grout area in Dilling Locality yesterday said that belongings of civilians have been looted by a group of criminals. The source added that the gunmen are accused of being loyal to the militia of Kafi Tayar, which is supported by the South Kordofan government.

The militias have allegedly threatened citizens and looted sums of money and mobile phones. The gunmen are said to move openly in the presence of local authorities, causing fear among the civil population.

Authorities have permitted the militia to move at will, in spite of citizens’ complaints.
