Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) have confiscated all copies of three daily newspapers on Sunday morning without any clear reason, according to journalists.
Several journalists in Khartoum told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that security agents confiscated print runs of Al-Tayyar, Al-Jareeda and Al-Watan newspapers from the printing press.
They pointed out that the three newspapers were confiscated for publishing reports criticizing the government decision to raise fuel and electricity price.
Separately, Sudanese security agents arrested Mohiddin al-Jalad, member of the central committee in the opposition Sudanese Communist Party on Saturday.
In a press release obtained by Radio Tamazuj yesterday, the opposition party said that security forces arrested al-Jalad from his house at al-Hajj Yusuf residential area in Khartoum on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Khalid Omar Yusuf, deputy chairman of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) is still in detention. Khalid was arrested after addressing worshipers at a mosque in Dem residential area on Friday.
