Mantuot primary school at Malualkuel in Aweil East County has closed down due to lack of teachers. This comes after six volunteer teachers left the school to work on their farms to support their families.

One of the volunteer teachers from Mantuot Primary School, Marko Lual Mayen Gouk, said that he blames the state government for not doing enough to pay the teachers rather than relying on volunteer teachers.

However, the county education director of Aweil East, Dominic Ajiith Wieu has denied the report, saying there is no school call Mantuot Primary School under his administration.

“We don’t have a school that is operating under our administration called Mantuot Primary School, so we are not aware about it. Maybe the community of the area knows so they are the one who should handle this case but not us,” he said.
