Prices skyrocket as Sennar-Mazmun road cut

A large number of citizens of Sennar State of Sudan have complained about the rise prices of commodities in the markets due to heavy rains hit the area recently resulted into poor roads.

“A bag of onion is for 400 SSP, while it was 150 to 170 SSP, a kilo of sugar ranges from 8-9 SSP, it was 4 SSP, edible oil is 8 SSP” A source confirmed.

Multiple sources also revealed that the road connecting Sennar, Sinja, as well as Mazmum town, is impassable due to heavy rain falls in the area. Local population are also complaining about rise of transportation tariffs to 500 per cent. Mazmum-Sinja road cut off led to skyrocketing prices of essentials commodities,” a citizen explained.
