Traders in Sudan’s South Kordofan state said that prices of consumer goods are rising at Liri market.
Several local residents yesterday complained about increasing prices of essential commodities especially sorghum, onion and cooking oil.
A sack of onion rose to 650 SDG, a small bushel of sorghum is 12 SDG, while a small bushel of corn increased to 14 SDG, one trader said.
He said that a carton of soap rose from 60 SDG to 70 SGD. A jerrycan of cooking oil is for 600 SDG, while a bucket of tahini (paste) rose from 250 to 400 SDG.
School fees in Abu Jabeiha
Separately, citizens in the neighboring Abu Jabeiha Locality deplored heavy school fees imposed on students by the Education Department in the locality.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Tuesday, parents said that they were increasing dropouts among pupils due to high school fees.
They accused the local authorities of being insensitive toward economic challenges the parents and guardians are facing in the area.
