Damazin town in Sudan’s Blue Nile State is experiencing rising prices of consumer commodities, reportedly owing to news restriction imposed on the traders at the market by authorities.
Traders noted that consumer goods especially sorghum, cooking oil, meat and sugar have dramatically risen in price at the market.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, several local residents expressed discontent about the soaring prices of commodities and other agricultural products.
“A sack of sorghum rose to SDG 250, a small bushel of Dura reached SDG 50, whereas it cost 25 SDG before,” a local resident explained.
Business owners attributed the problem to restriction on the traders and pricing by the local authorities in the town.
