Traders in Sudan’s Blue Nile state say prices of consumer goods have risen drastically at Kurmuk market in the last few days.

A jerrycan of cooking oil costs 330 SDG and a 50 kg sack of sugar costs 300. A carton of soap costs 120 SDG, whereas the prices of bread increased to 2 SDG per loaf.

The sources blamed the increase in prices to the difficulties in transporting the goods after the recent military operations in the area.
