Citizens in Ad Daien town in Sudan’s East Darfur State have complained that prices of commodities are soaring these days even as people try to prepare for Ramadan.

Several citizens told Radio Tamazuj that the town is witnessing increasing prices in the run-up to the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. They said families want to buy things for Ramadan at this time, but the skyrocketing prices at the market are affecting them.

A citizen said a price of one pound of tea leaves rose from 5 SDG to 8 SDG, and a malwa of sorghum increased from 5 SDG to 16 SDG, while a pound of sugar costs 5 SDG. The complaining citizens call on the government to take measures to reduce the soaring prices.
