The price of basic commodities has dropped in some rebel-held areas of Upper Nile state, according to local sources.
In Ulang and Doma counties, the price of sorghum was 200 and 120 South Sudanese pounds, respectively, down from 350 pounds last week.
Sources said the price drop is the result of a successful maize harvest.
The price drop hasn’t reached the entire state. Sorghum is still 350 pounds in Jikmier and Nasir, despite their proximity to the Ethiopian border.
And cattle prices remain high in both areas. Each head is being sold for 1,000 to 1,500 pounds, up from 500 to 800 pounds before the start of the crisis.
