Prices of agricultural products have dramatically dropped at the market in Lagawa Locality in Sudan’s West Kordofan State.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, several traders said the market was witnessing relative stability in prices of consumer goods especially sorghum and cowpea.
Elevated prices in recent months were attributed to shortages of agricultural products as well as trade restrictions imposed by security authorities at the market.
The security service had banned citizens from making large bulk purchases without prior authorization from the security office. The step was likely intended to prevented people from transporting goods into neighbouring territory under control of SPLA-N.
