Prices of commodities have dramatically dropped at the market in Yida camp in South Sudan’s Unity State.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, several traders attributed the reason to reopening of the road connecting Unity State to Wau town.
Abdel Hameed Abbas, the head of chamber of commerce in Yida area, said the market is witnessing relative stability in prices of consumer goods especially flour and sugar.
A sack of sugar, for example, dropped in price from 1300 to 350 SSP.
The spike in prices of commodities last month was due to the conflict in the state, which led to the closure of the main roads to states, including the trading hub Wau.
