The prices for different commodities have dramatically decreased at the market in the contested region of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan.
Several traders at Abyei market told Radio Tamazuj that prices decreased these days with a sack of ful dropping from 300 SSP to 230 SSP, a carton of soap costing 100 SSP compared to 130 previously, and cooking oil dropped from to 230 SSP to 200 SSP.
Traders attributed the reason to the flow of consumer good without any interruption from both Sudan and South Sudan.
Businesses owners, however still complain about the recession in the market and low purchasing power due to delay of payment of salaries for civil servants in Abyei area.
