An SPLA soldier has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself dead at Jebel residential area in South Sudan’s capital Juba over the weekend.

An SPLA soldier has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself dead at Jebel residential area in South Sudan’s capital Juba over the weekend.

An eyewitness who preferred not to be named told Radio Tamazuj today that he rushed to the victim’s house after hearing gun shots, saying troops in the vicinity reached the spot and cordoned off the area to take the body.

According to the same source, the SPLA soldier who committed suicide was working with Kiir’s presidential guard – known also as the Tiger Division. The main motive behind the suicide is not clear so far.
