President Kiir sacks two state governors, appoints new officials

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has issued an executive order sacking two governors and replacing them with new officials in a move which received mixed reactions from supporters and opponents.

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has issued an executive order sacking two governors and replacing them with new officials in a move which received mixed reactions from supporters and opponents.

President Kiir, according to the order read on the state owned South Sudan Broadcasting on Tuesday evening, sacked  Twic State governor Bona Panek Biar and Gogrial State Governor Abraham Gum. He appointed former Twic State Finance Minister Kon Manyiel Kuol as the new governor.

 His brother in law, Gregory Deng Kuach Aduol, better known as Gregory Vasili, was named the new governor of Gogrial state, replacing Abraham Gum.
