President Kiir returns to Juba after signing peace deal

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Thursday returned to Juba after signing the final peace agreement with opposition groups in Addis Ababa.

In a press statement in Juba yesterday, President Kiir’s adviser on security affairs Tut Gatluak said the president returned to the capital Juba after signing the final peace deal with the opposition.

“What we signed is the final peace. We are committed to implement the agreement in good faith,” Tut said.

“I want to tell the people of South Sudan that peace has come and there is no war again. We have returned from Addis Ababa with peace after the outstanding issues had been resolved,” he added.

The presidential adviser thanked the opposition for accepting peace.
