Vice president James Wani Igga announced yesterday evening that the presidency had discussed and resolved to implement three important things. “One, we have agreed that there should be four cantonment sites in Equatoria. Two cantonment sites to be in central Equatoria, one in Western Equatoria and one in Eastern Equatoria. The other important item was the reinstatement of the civil servants who left their jobs as a result of the 2013 crisis. These civil servants are into categories. Those who left at the national level and those who left at the state levels, they will all be reinstated into their positions. This issue has been resolved and the president has issued the order. So this is resolved. The civil servants will resume their work right away. Those in Juba will go to the ministry of public services and those at the state will go to secretariat general of their respected states. The other issue was the issue of states. We have agreed to increase the number of states but the most important thing is the issue of Raja and Aweil and also the issue of Malakal. A committee has been formed under the first vice president and this committee will have to complete their work and report back to the president within seven days”, announced Igga. He did not elaborate on the number of the states they have agreed to add.
