President Salva Kiir Mayardit officially opened the Bank of South Sudan’s (BoSS) modern and imposing new headquarters in Juba on Monday.
The inauguration ceremony at the new facility in Juba City’s Jondoru suburb was attended by Dr. James Alic Garang, the Governor of the Central Bank, along with other high-ranking government officials.
Speaking at the event, President Kiir emphasized the fundamental role of a strong banking sector in nurturing economic growth and ensuring financial stability across the nation. He lauded the Central Bank for its steadfast oversight of monetary policies and its critical role in regulating the banking industry.
“I take this opportunity to encourage the staff of the Bank of South Sudan to cooperate with the staff of our institution to advance the positives of the government,” he stated. “I urge other government institutions and citizens to focus on development and improving economic growth.”
For his part, Central Bank Governor Dr. Alic expressed gratitude for the government’s unwavering support in the realization of the project. He underscored the critical importance of the new headquarters in enhancing operational efficiency and expanding public access to essential banking services.
Constructed by Shandong High Speed, a prominent Chinese construction firm, the BoSS Headquarters represents a significant collaboration between South Sudan and China.
Chinese Ambassador Ma Qiang, also present at the ceremony, emphasized the mutual benefits of such partnerships.
The new BoSS headquarters is built to play a central role in shaping the future of South Sudan’s financial landscape, promising enhanced services and greater efficiency in managing the nation’s monetary policies and banking regulations.
