President Kiir heads to Addis Ababa on official visit today

South Sudan's President Salva Kiir is scheduled to travel to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa today for a two-day official visit during which he will meet his counterpart Hailemariam Desalegn.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Ateny Wek Ateny, South Sudan's presidential spokesman, said President Kiir is scheduled to hold talks on bilateral relations that will focus on different sectors between the two countries.

He pointed out that the two countries will sign cooperation agreements on roads and mining.

In October last year, President Kiir and Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn signed a deal on bilateral trade, borders and military cooperation.

But there have been reports that President Kiir had signed an agreement with Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi which could harm Ethiopia’s interest during his visit to Cairo last month.
