South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Monday night issued an order forming a three-member committee to hold discussions with judges in order to address their grievances.

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Monday night issued an order forming a three-member committee to hold discussions with judges in order to address their grievances.

The judges on Monday said they decided to call off their intended strike over ongoing negotiations with the presidency.

Last week, the judges served notice to withdraw their services if issues concerning better working conditions, an increase in salaries and the reinstatement of leave benefits were not addressed.

According to the presidential order, Kiir appointed Paulino Wanawila, minister of justice as the chairman of the committee and information minister, Michael Makuei Lueth as the deputy and the presidency’s head of legal administration, Majok Mading Majok as the secretary of the committee.

The committee, according to the order, shall hold discussions with the judges and make recommendations about the way forward to President Kiir after consultations with the Judges.
