Local residents in Dilling Locality in Sudan’s South Kordofan State are reporting water shortages and power cuts amid silence by local authorities in the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, local residents of Dilling area said they were experiencing an acute shortage of water and electric blackout for almost three months.

They expressed resentment at the state government and called on the concerned authorities to quickly relieve the suffering of the citizens.

Several people have resorted to look for other alternatives to get water and electricity in the town.

“Now the citizens get water from manual pumps,” a source explained. “Prices of water have dramatically increased due to a shortage.”

A large number of people are using generators instead of waiting for public power. They accused the government of indifference to provide essential services to the citizens.
